Big Sean is opening up about what it was like for him while he processed a miscarriage he experienced with fellow artist Jhené Aiko. The couple who now share two-year-old Noah, both opened up about losing a child before welcoming him into the world. During the rapper’s recent appearance on ‘On Purpose with Jay Shetty’ to discuss his debut book, Go Higher: Five Practices for Purpose, Success, and Inner Peace, Sean spoke on how he got through the experience.
“Every situation is different,” he began. “So to someone who is experiencing miscarriages, and I can only speak from a man’s perspective— I can’t speak for a woman. Their perspective is the most traumatic, but I can say that, first of all, you’re worthy. I don’t want you to think you’re not worthy.”
He continued, "I don't want people to think that because they have a miscarriage that they're inadequate or that they're broken. I think that this life is complex, and there are things we do and don't understand, and I think there's beauty in everything that's meant for you."
Sean concluded his speech by saying, “Sometimes you got to go through it just to get to it.”
The rapper first shared the news of their miscarriage with the release of his 2020 song "Big Reverence".
His book is available for purchase.
