While promoting Gladiator II on Australia’s “TODAY” show, Denzel Washington revealed he is joining the Marvel franchise in the upcoming Black Panther 3 film. Washington announced that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is writing a role specifically for him in the next installment.
“For me, it’s about the filmmakers. Especially at this point in my career, I am only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. It’s probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done,” Washington said.
Washington explained that while his acting career is nearing its end Black Panther 3 will be one of his final projects. Marvel hasn’t officially announced Black Panther 3 as of yet.
The actor told "Today" that he next plans to play Othello, Hannibal, King Lear and star in a film from "12 Years a Slave" director Steve McQueen. He is also expected to reunite with Spike Lee in an upcoming A24 movie.
