Doechii Calls Out Trump Administration During BET Speech

Doechii turned her BET Awards acceptance speech into a call out of President Donald Trump and his immigration policies. On Monday night (June 9), the rapper dressed in a bright red Mia Mia set accepted the award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

During her acceptance speech she pointed out how honored she felt for being recognized. Her speech even spoke on President Trump’s latest immigration policies as she wanted to “address what’s happening right now outside of the building.”

“There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order,” Doechii said. “Trump is using military forces to stop a protest, and I want y’all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us.”

The BET Awards took place in Los Angeles following a weekend of protest over immigration raids that took place on Friday, with dozens of people arrested. ICE is performing a directive from President Donald Trump to find immigrants living in the United States without legal status.
