Kansas City Chiefs Lineman Offers to Cover $1.5M in Stolen Chicken Wings to Free Woman

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has offered to cover the $1.5 million worth of chicken wings stolen by a former Chicago school official during the COVID-19 pandemic in exchange for her release from prison.
“I’ll pay for the wings that she stole to get her free,” he wrote in an X (formally known as Twitter) post.
Vera Liddell, who served as the food service director for the Harvey School District is serving time at Cook County Jail for theft and operating a criminal enterprise, according to CBS News. Liddell pleaded guilty to the charges on Friday, Aug. 9, and received a nine-year prison sentence.
She admitted to stealing $1.5 million worth of chicken wings, 11,000 cases, between July 2020 and February 2022, according to her other lawyer, Gregory LaPapa.
