Boston Celtics player Jaylen Brown is launching a new performance brand that includes a flagship sneaker. The independent brand 741 will bring together “advanced technology and minimalist design.”
The reigning NBA Finals MVP is the latest baller to create his own signature shoe line as part of the ongoing wave of athlete empowerment that stretches across fashion, culture, media and business. Brown says he turned down more than $50 million from major shoe companies to create 741, where he will have full ownership and creative control.

He explained that the numbers hold both personal and spiritual meanings for him.
“741 is more than just a sneaker brand, it’s a statement about independence, creativity, and ownership,” Brown said in a release.
People can get their hands on the new sneakers starting on Oct. 22 online and at select retailers. Pre-orders are available now at 741performance.com.
