Niecy Nash-Betts Set To Host Writer’s Guild Awards In L.A.

Emmy award winning actress and television host, Niecy Nash-Betts, has signed on to host the Los Angeles portion of next month’s Writers Guild Awards. After being pushed back due to the Hollywood strikes, it will take place Saturday, April 14th at the Hollywood Palladium.

“A good writer is an actors’ greatest gift,” Nash-Betts said in a statement. L.A. awards exec producer Hugh Fink (“Saturday Night Live”) added: “Niecy Nash-Betts is the dream host for this year’s WGA Awards. Her brilliant performance in ‘Dahmer’ – as the courageous woman who helped take down a serial killer who ate his victims – is surprisingly a lot like negotiating with the AMPTP.”
Nash-Betts was awarded an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for her performance in the Netflix series.
Benn Fleishman of Avalon Harbor Entertainment is also a producer for this year’s WGA Awards in Los Angeles. Additional presenters scheduled to appear at this year’s L.A. awards show include Bill Burr (“Old Dads,” “F is For Family”), Diedrich Bader (“Veep,” “The Drew Carey Show”), Drew Carey (“The Drew Carey Show”), Gina Yashere (“Bob Hearts Abishola”), Lindsay Dougherty (secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 399), Maria Sten (“Big Sky,” “Reacher”), Nathan Fielder (“The Curse,” “The Rehearsal”), Randall Park (“Always Be My Maybe,” “Fresh Off The Boat”), Tig Notaro (“One Mississippi,” “Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted”), Tony Hale (“Veep,” “Arrested Development”), Wendi McLendon-Covey (“The Goldbergs,” “Reno 911!”) and more to come.
Nash-Betts’ filmography includes“Reno 911,” “Claws,” “When They See Us,” “The Soul Man,” “Getting On,” “The Rookie: Feds,” “Scream Queens,” “Masters of Sex” and “Origin.” She has two Daytime Emmy Nominations as host and the 2007 American Women in Radio Gracie Allen Award for the home makeover and interior design show "Clean House." As a host, she has scored two Daytime Emmy nominations and the 2007 American Women in Radio Gracie Allen Award for the home makeover and interior design show “Clean House.”
Additionally, the WGA awards hosting gig is not new for the Claws actress.
She previously hosted the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards, guest hosted The Masked Singer and is currently landing her hosting skills to a game show, Don’t Forget the Lyrics.
Nash-Betts was also nominated for an Emmy on 2019’s “When They See Us,” and won a Critics Choice Award, as well as an NAACP Image Award for “Dahmer.”
