Obama Produced Series Follow LeBron James, Other NBA Stars Throughout the Season

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are executive producing a new docuseries where Lebron James, Jimmy Butler and other basketball stars will be the center of attention. The former president and first lady worked together to focus on the 2023 to 2024 NBA season.

“Starting 5” will also follow Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum, Minnesota Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards, and Sacramento Kings player Domantas Sabonis. According to a Netflix release the documentary will show all of the players throughout the NBA season as they pursued a championship win.

Each player’s individual experiences are documented including James’ rise to the top in his 21 season, and how Edwards popularity rose during his breakout season. The show will also follow Tatum’s journey to getting his first NBA championship. "'Starting 5' delivers an unfiltered view of life at the pinnacle of professional basketball," the release states.

All 10 45-minute long episodes of "Starting 5" premieres October 9 on Netflix.
