Showtime Releases First Trailer For "The First Lady"

Showtime has finally given us the first real look at the highly anticipated series, "The First Lady."

It's centered around 3 of America's most influential first ladies. Michelle Obama played by Viola Davis, Betty Ford played by Michelle Pfiffer and Eleanor Roosevelt played by Gillian Anderson. All 3 of the women seem to have transformed into these historic women.


The series will depict each of their husband's presidencies through their eyes and how many important decisions were made or influenced by these women.


The show also features an A-list roster of stars to round out the Fords, Obamas and Roosevelts.


Aaron Eckhart is Gerald Ford. Younger versions of their characters will be played by Kristine Froseth (“Looking for Alaska”) and Jake Picking (“Top Gun: Maverick”). Dakota Fanning plays their daughter, Susan Ford.


O-T Fagbenle (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) is Barack Obama. Lexi Underwood (“Little Fires Everywhere”) and Saniyya Sidney (“King Richard”) play their daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama.


Kiefer Sutherland will play Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Christopher Plummer will take over for an older portrayal. Ellen Burstyn plays the president’s mother Sara Delano Roosevelt, Caillee Spaeny plays his daughter Anna Eleanor Roosevelt and Jeremy Bobb plays former president Theodore Roosevelt. Eliza Scanlen (“Little Women”) plays Eleanor in her younger years.
