The 74th Tony Awards were held last night to honor the achievements in the world of Broadway. One of the many things affected by COVID, the show was delayed from June 2020. It was broadcast as 2 separate parts with Audra McDonald and Leslie Odom Jr. serving as hosts.

Slave Play led the nominations for a play with 12 and Jagged Little Pill led the nominations for a musical with 15.
Moulin Rouge one 10 ten awards including Best Musical, making it the production with the most wins of the night.

The Old Vic production of A Christmas Carol followed winning 5 awards and The Inheritance won 4 including Best Play.
Never too old, 90 year old Lois Smith became the oldest performer to win a Tony receiving Featured Actress in a Play. David Alan Grier took home his first Tony for Best Performance by a Feature Actor in a Play.

The award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theater was given to Graciela Daniele.
Jennifer Holliday earned a standing ovation and brought down the house for performing her iconic song And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going from Dreamgirls. Jennifer won a Tony in 1981 for her portrayal of Effie White in the loosely based story of The Supremes.
