Guess what, TV buffs? Alfre Woodard, the legendary actress we all adore, is hopping on the Apple TV+ bandwagon for their latest drama series, "The Last Frontier."
Teaming up with lead star Jason Clarke, Woodard joins an impressive lineup that includes Haley Bennett, Dominic Cooper, Simone Kessell, rising star Tait Blum, and familiar face Dallas Goldtooth from "Reservation Dogs." And Apple's not holding back, giving the green light for a full 10 episodes.
So, what's the show all about? Well, hold onto your hats! It follows US Marshal Frank Remnick (played by Clarke), the lone sheriff in the rugged wilds of Alaska. But his quiet gig goes haywire when a prison transport plane crashes, setting loose a bunch of unsavory characters. Cue the drama! Now, Frank's on high alert, suspecting this crash ain't no accident but the start of something much bigger.
And Woodard? She's stepping into the role of Bradford, a bigwig in the CIA. This ain’t her first rodeo with Apple either – remember her in "See" alongside Jason Momoa? Yeah, that was a wild ride.
Woodard’s no stranger to accolades, with more awards and nominations than you can count. I'm talking 17 Emmy nods, 7 SAG Awards, 3 Golden Globes, and then some. From "Clemency" to "Crooklyn" and classics like "Hill Street Blues" and "LA Law," she's been lighting up screens for decades.
Represented by CAA, Circle of Confusion, and Gochman Law Group, Woodard's bringing her A-game once again to the small screen.
"The Last Frontier" is the brainchild of creators Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, with Clarke also serving as an executive producer. Sam Hargrave's on board to direct the pilot and exec produce. With Apple Studios backing it, this series promises to be one heck of a thrill ride.
