Kirstie Alley Dies

Beloved actress Kirstie Alley has died. Her children, Lillie and True Parker released a statement saying she passed away after a brief private battle with cancer on Monday night.

"We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered," they said in a statement.

"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead," they continued. "As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother."

Kirstie rose to fame in the 80s on the long running sitcom Cheers where she earned a Golden Globe and an Emmy. She went on to star in the Look Who's Talking series, Veronica's Closet, Drop Dead Gorgeous and so much more.

Kirstie was 71 and leaves behind 2 children, co-stars and a legion of fans.
