Michael K. Williams, an actor known for starring in multiple HBO shows, most notably The Wire was found dead in his Brooklyn home from a suspected drug overdose. He was 54.

Williams was found by a relative who hadn't heard from him in a couple days and went to check on him.
According to reports, he was found face down in his living room with drug paraphernalia on a table nearby. He was pronounced dead at 2:12 pm, law enforcement doesn't suspect any foul play and are initially labeling his death a fatal overdose. It is unclear how long the actor may have been dead. Insiders say cops are investigating the source of the drugs.
Through the years, he was vocal about his struggles with drugs and even talked about him entering therapy recently.
Michael loved to dance and that's how he entered the world of entertainment. He ended up touring all around the globe doing back up dancing for some pretty big names including Madonna, George Michael, and Missy Elliott.
It was his signature scar on his face that he got during a bar fight that got him acting gigs.
Michael's career was solidified when he portrayed Omar in the gritty Baltimore HBO drama The Wire. He later went on to have starring roles in "Boardwalk Empire, The Night Of and Lovecraft Country. He was a 5 time Emmy nominee, his most recent nomination was for Lovecraft Country.

He used his fame to promote social justice and became an ambassador to end mass incarceration.
He is survived by his son Elijah.
