BET+ has a new series that focuses on Atlanta in the 1900s and showcases Freaknik, hip-hop, race and more. BET+ released the first four episodes of the series 'Perimeter' on Feb. 29, starting off with an introduction into the characters. Paramount Press describes the show as a complex web of personal stories unfolded in the 1990's. It tells the story of a sophomore at Spelman College named Paige who falls for a bad boy just before the Freaknik event.
Here’s the description of the series:
"In Atlanta, in the 1990’s a complex web of personal stories unfolds. Paige, a promising Spelman sophomore, veers off her path to success when she falls for a "bad boy" just before the pivotal "Freaknik" event. Adulthood disrupts their lives, pulling Paige, her long-term boyfriend Malcolm, and newcomer Romeo into a series of challenges. Amidst Atlanta’s global Olympic spotlight, eventual mayor Robert Dawn’s rise to power comes at the price of personal sacrifices and moral dilemmas. These interconnected stories set off a transformative chain reaction in the city, echoing Dante’s words: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
"Perimeter" stars Tatyana Ali who is well-known for her role on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
plays Connie Dawn, the mother of Paige Dawn. It also stars Ava Mone't, Donovan Christie Jr., Malcolm Xavier, Jalen Gilbert, West Montez and many more great actors.
Tyler Perry is an executive producer of the series while Armani Ortiz directed.
The series is now available for anyone to watch through BET+ only.
