New ‘Joker 2’ trailer shows Lady Gaga’s Debut in Sequel

The first look at the trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux shows Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix and pop star Lady Gag united in another installment of the classic story of Joker and Harley Quinn. Warner Bros unveiled a look of the trailer at CinemaCon and released the teaser trailer on Tuesday on Youtube.

Lady Gaga is starring in the sequel to the $1 billion movie that earned Phoenix an Oscar, but this time the movie has a different aspect. It will also be a musical. The first movie is the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Phoenix returns to the role of Arthur Fleck while Lady Gaga will appear in a role said to be inspired by the comic book character Harley Quinn. Phoenix’s character Arthur Fleck is an inspiring comic who spirals after his mental health issues come to a head until he adopts the Joker persona.

The teaser trailer begins with Phoenix’s character Arthur Fleck cuffed and plain-faced while being escorted through a facility he’s being held at. As he walks through the corridor, his eyes catch Lady Gaga’s character Harley Quinn as she stands in what appears to be a choir room. The clip goes on to show sequences of the love pair dancing with each other in the street, dodging explosions, running from mobs and kissing each other through Fleck’s jail cell.

The Joker sequel is part of the DC Elseworlds brand and is set to premiere in theaters on October 4.
