Questlove says a new D’Angelo project is coming soon. He revealed the news while talking with The “National News Desk” at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The Roots drummer and filmmaker was a part of the original Soulquarians with D’Angelo. The Soulquarians collective included other groundbreaking neo-soul artists, including Erykah Badu, Common, and Mos Def. D’Angelo passed away in October at 51 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The singer’s impact runs deep in neo-soul and R&B as “Voodoo” became the blueprint for both genres. “Black Messiah” won a Grammy for Best R&B Album showed how powerful D’Angelo’s voice still was when it dropped in 2014.
Questlove described the new project as “the sound of yesterday, but for the future”. The musician did not drop any details on when to expect the album.
