Tina Turner was given her flowers in her hometown in the form of a statue. Turner was honored with a 10-foot statue that was unveiled in Brownsville, Tennessee, the rural community just outside Memphis where she grew up, according to ABC News.
The late rock and roll legend's statue stands tall in a park just steps away from the high school Turner attended as a teen. Sculptor Fred Ajanogha, who brought the piece to life, said he wanted to capture the essence of Turner in full performance mode.
From the movement in her body, the way she gripped the mic with her finger pointed like she owned every note, and her signature hairstyle, which he compared to as a the “mane of a lion.”
According to representatives, the icon died of natural causes at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland in 2023, BET.com reported.
