Young Dolph Has Died

Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. better known as Young Dolph has died. The Memphis based rapper passed away in a fatal shooting while visiting his hometown.

He was reportedly buying cookies at Makeda's Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis when someone drove up and shot him.

Memphis Police Chief Ceralyn "CJ" Davis released this statement:

"This shooting is another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide. Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected by this horrific act of violence.

Sources say he was in town for his annual Thanksgiving giveaway. Every year, he gave out a ton of turkeys to people in his old neighborhood.

He was to head to that event after leaving the cookie store. He was currently residing in Atlanta.

Young Dolph has been targeted in the past. In 2017, his SUV was shot at over 100 times. Later that year he was struck by multiple bullets outside of a shoe store in Hollywood, that required surgery.

He was 36.

At the time, police don't have a motive and no suspect information is available.
