Former president Barack Obama's eldest daughter Malia Obama is using her director skills to help out WNBA player A’ja Wilson. Obama directed two videos for the WNBA star’s new signature shoe for the brand, the A’One, which dropped on Tuesday, May 6.
In one of the videos, a young girl teaches the Las Vegas Aces center how to play “Miss Mary Mack” with lyrics geared towards Wilson’s basketball career. The second video features an interview with Wilson at Big T’s Bar-B-Que in Columbia, South Carolina, where the basketball star grew up.
According to people.com Obama’s moment with Nike may have begun in February, when social media users claimed that they saw the Harvard graduate in Columbia, S.C. on the same day that Wilson’s jersey was retired by her former team, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. The campaign which featured Benedict College also highlighted Wilson's family heritage with the school.
